Welcome to Talk Shop's National Speech & Language and Occupational Therapy Fair
'2011 - THE YEAR OF COMMUNICATION'
Friday 30 September 2011 - 9.30am to 4pm
We were delighted to welcome Jean Gross, Communications Champion, as our keynote speaker
THANK YOU TO ALL OUR SPEAKERS, EXHIBITORS AND DELEGATES for joining us on 30th September! It appeared that everyone enjoyed the day. We are currently working through the feedback forms and will let you know the overall feeling of the day shortly.
This day was run as an exciting new merger between SaLTs and OTs bringing the delegates a unique opportunity to communicate and share ideas with fellow health professionals. We wanted it not to be the usual 'run of the mill' conference - rather it was designed to give the space and time to re-discover your passion for your work; rekindle your creativity; share information; view a wealth of different resources and be able to buy that 'product that I've been searching for for ages!'; the opportunity to 'sell' your resource ideas to different companies; discover new ideas and products; be involved with discussion groups: have the chance to attend workshops to listen to expert speakers and most importantly to Network and update your CPD.
The initial impressions were that the day was well organised; was a good price; people appreciated the fact that it was for both OTs and SLTs and that there was a good diversity of subjects. So thoughts for next time ... should it be geared to work with 'children and adults', 'just children' or 'just adults' ... should there be at least half an hour when everyone stops for lunch? ... if just focusing on Paediatrics should teachers / schools be involved? ... should discussion groups and workshops to run at the same times rather than staggered ... All these thoughts, and more, will be considered for the next Talk Shop.
